So, we’ve spent the last few days hanging around the coldest, wettest and awesomest city that I’ve ever been to. NYC.

We were heading out there to put on a party for Mona, who had won a competition on XLR8R to have Drop The Lime play in her local boozer, which turned out to be this little place in Greenpoint, Brooklyn called Coco 66.

While we were over there, we called up Monihan Monihan and Cookie to shoot some videos for us. These guys work together as Bricolagista an ‘urban filmaking collective’ who claim to be the only Skateboarder and BMX rider combo to put aside their differences in extreme sport allegiance to become partners.

We put together three videos over there. The first in which Drop The Lime showed us around Brooklyn, heading to his favourite places and meeting the good people of Greenpoint, who he calls his neighbours. This took us to Gutter Bowl for some bowling with the Trouble & Bass crew, his barber for a haircut, his local coffee shop and the Trouble & Bass studio, which was possibly the highlight of the trip.

We were joined by Isis, from Thunderheist – and we caught up with the pair in the studio, laying down the finishing touches to a remix that Drop The Lime has done for their recent single ‘Drive-In’ which we’ll be putting out with Bacardi B-LIVE very soon.

This track is without a doubt one of the best remixes that Drop The Lime’s done, he even adds to the wild bass magic by pulling out his Gretsch guitar. They also debuted the track at the party on Friday night – which was by all accounts a great success.

We also recorded a video about the making of the remix, and shot a promo video for the Drive In remix, all of which you’ll be able to see very soon indeed…

1. The cool look in Brooklyn is to look like a lumberjack. You must have a huge beard and checked shirt.

2. Much to my disappointment, New Yorkers don’t find the English accent cool. They take the piss out of it. Relentlessly.

3. Don’t ask the doorman in a club where the “toilet” is. They will die laughing, in your face.

4. They actually play Afro rhythms in trendy places. It’s not just the blogs that are full of African influenced rhythms, they actually listen to it in shops and diners.

5. Mad snowfall doesn’t stop a party.
